ESAB Welding & Cutting Products announced the update of its OK 48.00 SMAW (Stick) electrodes now designed to meet H4R low hydrogen and moisture resistant requirements. This next generation of ESAB's renowned OK 48.00 electrodes provides improved performance characteristics for welding applications with difficult stress conditions, including fabrication and offshore construction work.

ESAB's OK Series stick electrodes are a leading choice of fabricators. They offer good penetration, consistent quality, and a smooth, stable arc at low spatter levels. They deliver reliable mechanical properties in high- or low-temperature environments, high-humidity worksites, and challenging out-of-position projects. Easy to strike and restrike, OK Series electrodes are suitable for welders of all experience levels.

OK 48.00, now H4R, offers the same efficiency, mechanical properties and superior weldability in a modern formulation engineered to decrease moisture pick-up in high humidity conditions. Resistance to moisture absorption pick-up helps prevent hydrogen cracking and aids in elimination of porosity, especially critical in offshore applications.
